Help! Radiator, thermostat, fan clutch, water pump are all new. Fan shroud is fine. Wasn't boiling over just running crappy and very very hot. Checked for blown head gasket, its fine. Other than a blockage or a sensor somewhere I'm out of ideas. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

So it hasn't boiled over yet? Have you actually made sure the gauge is reading correctly. It could be and your engine might be fine. Use an IR temp gun to check temps of the water outlet to the radiator.

Ok...first REALLY dumb question.......You SURE the thermostat is installed correctly?

Two...when you re-filled the coolant (glycol/water mix)...when you thought the radiator was full, did you start the engine with the heat/def on full blast? (I did this to open the heater control valve and allow circulation through the heater core too....)..... when i did that, I found I had to add quite a bit more to the system.

Three......when you took it all apart, what condition was the old coolant in? was it full of particulates and crap and all nasty rusty colored etc.etc.? if so.......sure sign of you needin a new radiator.....

anyway my .333 cents worth.

good luck sir!

I know its been a while, but here's why my jeep was over heating: the head gasket was leaking exhaust into the coolant lines keeping the system from flowing. On the plus side, nothing was warped on the head or the block! Thanks for all your ideas and input!

Its an automatic. Its built like a tank, too. Cast iron all over. I'm waiting for motor mounts before I put everything back together. I'll try to get some pictures in the next few days if anyone's curious.

I did get the air out of the system. :/
