Alrighty fellas, got myself into a bit of a debacle during the renovation process of my "new" '89 XJ. When I first popped the hood,I noticed that the front ccv elbow, which is the vent-out line that puts it back into the airbox, had been replaced by a random plastic elbow. Wasn't sealed or anything, so I figured it to be a good time to replace both valves and grommets. Photo to show you what i'm working with:
Notice the gerry-rigged hose adaption on the gray plastic elbow.
So I ordered some parts and that went fine and dandy, but I made a late night error and ordered a PCV fitting for the rear(intake) port. This is the comparison:
Yup, done goofed.
My question is can I just go ahead and use the PCV fitting instead of the somewhat shoddy looking rubber grommet-valve? I'd have to change out the hose as well, as the holes are different, but that's not an issue really. Seems to me the concept is the same for both pieces, but I'd rather get some experienced advice before I just go off all ***** nilly on this thing.
