Question 1989 Jeep cherokee backup light/ power/comfort switch issues

Ok so I have a 1989 Jeep cherokee limited with the Aisan Warner Aw4. I purchased this about 3 years ago knowing the backup lights didnt work. The previous owner jerry rigged a manual switch to activate the backup lights and I have used this ever since. The downside is somehow this issue affects my tranny fuse and blows it out not allowing me to use the power or comfort modes. Where do I begin to look to figure this one out? The NSS will not allow my jeep to start in D,R,3, or 1-2 so it seems fine. Is there an actual "backup switch" and where can I find this? Its not a huge deal but its getting old fast. Any help is appreciated.

i think the back up lights are controled by the nss figure out what wires they are and elininate them from the picture ,by clipping the feed to the reverse lights just feed them from the switch

So what exactly do you mean by that? You think I should clip the wires going into the actual backup lights and then run new wires off of a new NSS directly back to the backup lights? It looks like all the guy did was splice the wire at the backup lamp and run a wire from a hot on the fuse box to the switch, not using the NSS at all. I am assuming this because there are no cut wires or anything on any of the wiring harnesses to the tranny/ control module/ NSS. I have not pulled the dash apart yet to follow wires from the switch, though.
