Default 1989 and 1994 cherokee sport grill differences

My 1989 Cherokee sport has the black plastic grill with 8 openings. I just saw a 1994 grill for sale locally and I'm wondering if anyone knows the difference in fit or if a 1994 can be made to fit? Some web sites saw my 1989 takes 1984-1990 grills. Thanks!

Look at the parking lights and they are different. You can change out the whole grill and header panel if you want the newer look but the grill by itself will not fit w/o some modifications.

The header didn't change until the '97 model. The grill, however did change sevral times. The '94 grill "can" fit, but you will need the headlight bezels to go with it, as this model doesn't have seperate pieces for the trim on the upper and lower sides of the grill ( go look at your current grill, and you will see what I mean, esp,. if you pull the old grill out).

I Be Leave there is about 4 different XJ grills you have to look close over the years to notice them, the 1st 2 are direct swaps and the others need other parts to make them work on the older rig..

Now I remember years ago that some guy took a XJ Waggy and modded it some how to yuse parts from the last Gen XJ grill centers in it. I'll have to see if I can find the pics it was a cool looking set-up..

Still looking for the pics but hears some info for thought..

The Fact:The number of grille slots on the XJ was cut from 10 to eight by 1988. That would be for no particular reason.
The Worthless Fact:
When the two-millionth Cherokee was produced, President Clinton came to the factory to help celebrate. He later attended the opening of an envelope.

Almost makes you want to go out and buy one. Would like a poster like that for my shop wall.
