I'm looking at buying a 1988 XJ and right now the a/c doesn't work and the guy says it just need a recharge and I don't know if I believe it but I'm not sure? How much would it cost to get a new ac if it need it?

 

theres no way to give a price could just need charging or whole system could be shot,as little as 60 dollars for freeze 12 refil or 800.00 for complete system not including labor would be a rought estimate

 

Any way to tell which one? Or just take to a mechanic?

 

that depends on you level of auto repair under your belt

 

a vac test on the system will tell you if it is still a viable system. they usually run about 40 to 60 bucks.
