I recently bought my 18 year old son a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. Two days ago he had to have it jumped so I assumed either battery or alternator. I instructed him to either remove the battery and take it to the local AutoZone to have it tested or to get another jump and drive it to AutoZone and have it tested. He informed me that once he got it started to take it to Autozone that when he put the transmission in drive or reverse that the vehicle would not travel more than 10 to 15 mph. Is this a Transmission Control computer module issue? Could it be the alternator is going bad and is not regulating voltage properly and thus affecting the transmission control module? Thanks in advance for any and all info.
