Default 1988 cherokee problem

Hey there i am having some problems with me xj first off i was in the snow and screwed something up so took it to my mechanic and he said the tps was out of adjustment so he adjusted it and now i still cant get my mpg back up i am getting 10mpg when i was getting around 16 to 20. I so far have done header,o2 sensor, plugs, wires , cap and rotor, fuel pump and filter. I am getting a fuel pressure reading of 20 which is low but my jeep runs good just poor mileage? second the gauge when i give it gas and go around corners goes down and when i fill it it only goes to 3/4 full and the sending unit is brand new? third my shifting is screwed up it started by not shifting down then wouldnt shift till redline so i took the fuse out of the tranny computer and man shift it but the computer is good should i open the tranny and check the tv cable please help i am at a stump on all of these things thanks

Try this first. Adjust your TV cable, put the TCU fuse back in and see if it shifts better. It may be out of adjustment since your mechanic adjusted the TPS..
Adjust the TV cable and check the fluid level before you do anything...
I have posted this on a few other trans threads, and it has helped a couple people...

To adjust the TV cable you:
1: Push in and hold the release button
2: While holding in release button, push "conduit" in as far as it will go
3: Release button
4: Rotate throttle to WOT, some people do this with the gas pedal. Others do it from the engine compartment.
5: Hold at WOT for a few seconds, cable should ratchet out a click or two.
6: Your TV cable should now be properly adjusted, take it for a test ride.

Here is another post about it on NAXJA
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1015963
and another tutorial on how to adjust it
http://www.allpar.com/SUVs/jeep/cher...nsmission.html

I always recommend this to people with trans problems as their first check. If that does not fix anything (it may not) then come back and tell us about your symptoms in more detail...
