Post 1986 2.1L Turbo DIESEL Fuel Delivery Issues +questions

Hello. I am interested in picking up a Cherokee for my son and I am on quite a tight budget. I have come across a 1986 2.1L turbo diesel for next to nothing but there is a note on it that says "needs fuel pump". I have search a few sites and I haven't had much luck. Am I going to need to get this pump rebuilt or can I purchase a whole new unit online.

Could you guys..?

a: link me to a site where I can purchase said product

b: tell me if this part can/needs to be rebuilt

Also...

Is this drivetrain going to be reliable?

What kind of fuel economy can I expect from this?

You want realistic advice? Don't.
The Renault diesel motor is garbage. The fuel system is expensive to fix, and is garbage.

98% of the old diesels have been junked and crushed already. Used parts are non existent and new parts are gone too.

Don't despair.

I have 2 of these diesel Cherokees. Both '85. One is #000005.
Some parts can be expensive, others not.
There is no 'fuel pump'. There is an Injector Pump. They are the heart and soul of the engine. They control the engine's running.
If it needs a IP, they can be expensive. I had one of mine rebuilt, costs like $1600 but for a diesel that is like a 'rebuilt engine' should be good for another 150-200,000 miles.
I have lots of spare parts for this engine. In fact I have 2 1/2 engines, auto and manual trans, pistons, and so many other parts.
