Hi I recently bought a 1985 Jeep Cherokee now with the 2.5 originally it came the the diesel but someone swapped it out. It ran when I bought it but not very well. Now it won’t start at all I’ve replaced the carburetor and fuel pump. It won’t even fire of ether now. All cylinders have spark and ignition control module is working. I’m not sure where to go from here any help would be appreciated.

Check the timing and make sure it actually has fuel pressure.
Have you tried starting fluid?

Forget timing at this point. You have no spark.
this engine is carbureted, right?

Cruiser is right. You have to go old school on this one. Take the distributor end of the coil wire loose, stick a phillips screw driver in it and hold it next to a good grounding point while you crank it. You should see arching from the screw driver. If not, go from there. Also pull those plugs and make sure they are not wet.

If you do, you need the ECM to run it. It is located under the dash up kind of high. If you don't have the computer, then you would need to get a standard carb to put on it

I don't think so either. But if you have spark, why are you not getting it to fire with starter fluid? Do you have a standard transmission?
Put new spark plugs in and it fires up. Old ones looked fine. Now the carburetor leaks fuel from every where. Brand new carburetor and float is working fine. I have a pressure regulator set to 0.5 psi and it still leaks bad. Any suggestions?

Float can work fine, but if the needle valve is bad it will leak like crazy.

Too much pressure can bend the float and cause the same thing. Glad you got it to fire
