Current tires on my Cherokee 2000 (police specs) are stock 225.75.15. But I had 16-inch wheels on my CJ2A (stock 6x16) and my M38A1 (stock 7x16). I was wondering if anyone has put 16 inchers on their XJ?
I thought it might be a cheap way of getting a little more lift without modifying the vehicle. I drive half the time through gravelly mud, and some mudholes are pretty deep.
Is there enough wheelwell clearance for 16" wheels? Anyone got an opinion? Thank you.

Q1 - Yes
Q2 - Yes ( extra...huge tires will rub. decent sized will fit with little to no rub )
Q3 - Yes
Oh yeah. Just do some searches. You really didn't give alot of additional info.
Just what wheels are you considering? I run TJ Rubicon Moabs. Ran them prior to lift with smaller worn out tires. Got bigger new tires after my lift. Search Cherokee XJ with Moabs and Cherokee XJ with Icons. Both are 16" both are factory Jeep wheels.

Limited models came from the factory with 16" wheels so yes they'll fit. I just put 30" tires on my 15" wheels and gained about 1" lift so that's another option. I believe my 30/9.5/15 is about the same size as a 245/70/16.
