Hey guys, looking to get some rims and tires, wanting to know if I should get an 8" or 10" wide rim for a 12.5" tire?

get the 10 inch wide rim you are safe having the tire 4.5 inches wider than your rim but to be on the safe side get the 10s they will look nicer to

Depends on how you're going to be using your rig. Most guys that air down for snow or rocks that I wheel with go with 8 inch wide rims, because the narrower rim holds the bead better than a wide rim. If you don't wheel that much and like the looks of the 10 inch wide rim go that way. my.02

Okay more info...I will be wheeling it at least a weekend a month, and I do like the looks of the tires sticking out. That being said which back spacing do I need for either size? Thanks

15x8 with 4"bs is a really nice medium it puts the tire directly centered over the hub, so you will have about 6" of tread past the hub. yet at 4" you dont have to worry about rubbing. I run 33x10/5's on a 15x8 with 4" bs and no flares so it looks like this :

Okay cool, that's what mine looks like right now with my 31's, so I want at least that much tire sticking out if not an inch more, and thanks for taking the time to post pics

I can't post picks cause I post from my blackberry. But I run 33x12.50 on 15x10s that have 4" backspacing. There rock crusher simulated bead locks from national wheel and tier. I had put on wrangler bushwacker 6" pocket flairs trying not to get pulled over. The with makes the tier look a lot better but I really wanted to keep stock flairs. So just be careful. I did get the flairs for free though. I would sell those rims if ur interested 200 witch is half what I payed. I'm ready to bolt on my 36s on cregers. Just an idea.
When considering a wheel with decreased B.S. you should also keep in mind that the life of the unit bearing hubs will be affected.
I'm running 35x12.50x15's on a 15x8 alloy rim with 3.25" B.S. My hubs usually give up the ghost after a couple of wheeling seasons. of course this is dependant upon the terrain you wheel on.
Carry a spare and the tools to swap it out if the need arises.
