Default The 101 on replacing the belt on the 4.0 jeep

Needing some direct education on replacing a 98 jeep cherokee 4.0 belt.

YouTube isn't justifiable.

What's the difference when looking belts that have w/o ac and w/th.

I need a direct part number that will replace the belt to the way it was when it came out of ohio in 98. I told the guy at advance. I go home and google the belt part number and it's wrong. Aggravating to know ase part certified sales people are selling wrong parts. What the heck. Please and thank you for any help.

The 101 on replacing the belt on the 4.0 jeep

^
I think you mean the 411. Why not just use the PN off the old belt?

Yeah true lol the old belt is not looking so good and I'm afraid that I'm gonna break it. I can't read anything on the old belt.

Turbo.."the"101" refers to a beginning class, like "english 101"

Inline, check out the diagram a bit down in my signature and see if the power steering looks like yours. The earlier Jeeps adjust the belt with the PS pump, I don't know about a 99.

My E-fan comes out with the two little upper bolts. Then there are two bolts inside/bottom in the air-box to remove it. With that stuff out of the way you can reach all sorts of stuff, including the power steering pump.

97+ idler pulley is attached to the power steering bracket, IIRC. OP, the belt install is SIMPLE. Look for the routing diagram under your hood, loosen the idler pulley bolt and then loosen the adjuster above it, and plug 'er in.

One thing I will point out is that the location of the fan in that picture isn't quite accurate. It's more in between the mechanical fan and E-fan.

I have been told not to waste time on the Dayco belt and just get a Gatorback.

Here is the one for me 98 4.0 w/ AC:
Goodyear Gatorback # 4060950

Under $30 on amazon
