After reading up here a bit it seems my Jeep is odd. I was just looking at the drums on mine and I have 10" finned drums on my 85xj which has the 2.5L I4 with A904 automatic and 3:73 gears. From what I read that combination should only come with a police package or tow package, and someone else thought maybe it came with the Up Country package.

It is too old I think to have a VIN lookup for the build sheet, and I know the original owner and he most likely didn't order a police or tow package. If it is an Up Country package would that mean the stock height should be more than 17" at the rear? Measuring this one it is at 17" center of wheel to bottom of flair with springs that have negative arch.

This thing just keeps throwing weird things at me lol.

According to Advance Auto the only size for the 85xj was 9"x2.5" but mine are 10"x1.75, guess I am going to need to call around and see what I can find.

I believe this is the discrepancy you talking about? My 89 w/ D35 had the larger diameter brakes also.

I took the brakes down to Advance and they found the right ones )) The first time online I couldn't match it up, finally matched it up with a 97 model but at the store they were able to cross reference it to the right ones. Online even the ones sized to 10" were called 9" in the details for the part.

Seems the 10" isn't that common in that model year but they definitely made them.
