00' xj stalls randomly at idle and full throttle(not ckp) HELP!
i have a 2000 xj i bought about 3 months ago with 165xxx miles on it, has a weird stalling problem that i thought was a fuel issue, after doing research on the forum i seen that the ckp would be a good culprit so i replaced it and had the same problem . it stalls randomly at idle and at full throttle and dies around 3500rpm if that helps. its starting to get really annoying seeing this is my first jeep/xj and i cant enjoy it. any help would be thankful!

What lind of fuel pressure do you have? your '00 should have 49psi +or- 5psi. Also where did you get the cps from? After market one are garbage and have been known to be bad right out of the box. I and many other recommend a OEM CPS. But the first thing I would do is have it checked for any codes even if you don't have a CEL. Having it checked for codes should always be your fist step.

first off thanks for the reply. but my fuel pressure is around 48 around. and im having no cel whats so ever i pulled codes and nothing came up. and as far as the ckp goes i bought it at the napa i work at. if there is a cheaper solution than buying a ckp from the dealer? 50-70 bucks is fine but i dont want to throw parts at this thing. thanks again.

Have you tried to test the cps? You can give that a shot. The bad thing is that is not always accurate. My cps would show that it was good but I went ahead and changed it and the problem went away. Here's Cruiser's link on how to test it, It's post #7

I should have asked this before. When it stalls out does it give any warning or does it just die as if you turned the key off?

Haven't tested it but the link should help me. And it shuts off without warning like I turned the key off yes.

Give it a try. It can't hurt. Hope fully you do find that it is the problem so you don't have to keep looking. Let us know what you find out.

Check grounds. Check relays, (shuffle them in the box, to see if issues moves to an accessory). Check CPS, stalling is often a sign of Cam Pos sensor failing. Check CPS wiring and connection, they often get messed up . Try another CPS. Check igntion switch. Check vacuum system
