MY xj does not start up right away it takes 2 cranks with gas and 3 cranks with no gas. What are all posable things that could be wrong with the ignition.

 

What yr,engine,and trans.

You mean your having to give it some throttle to start it. What rpm's is it idleing at when at operating temp?

 

Rpm is in the 1's (i think)

 

Need vehicle info. Doesn't have to be anything wrong with the ignition. You shouldn't have to touch the gas peddle. From what little you've said it could be the IAC and throttle body(unless you have a carburator).
