00 - 01 -4.0 coil packs swap to distributor... Help!!!
Hello All,
I just put a 00 -01 cherokee 4.0 which had coil packs on it, I have a 99 cherokee that I put the motor in.. My 99 has a distributor...
How do I get the firing order right?? Anybody done this swap before? Do I need to rotate the distributor, There is a lock that wont allow me to rotate the dist..
Any help is appreciated..

Thanks a bunch..
I was going bye the book and it shows #1 ( TDC ) at 6 o'clock
not 5 o'clock , Big difference.. When I googled it and looked at the images
of firing ordre I saw it showed some images at 5 o'clock and some 6 o'clock.. Hmm Kind of weird..
Thanks,
Ant...

Hello Everyone,
Just took Jeep out with the new motor and she ran perfect..
All xcept for I am kicking myself in the ***..
When I first bought the jeep it had a small exhaust leak.. But at the same time I found 2 exhaust bolts in the jeep and when I took the old motor apart I noticed previous owner left out the 2 exhaust bolts that I found in the jeep..
Once old motor was out I looked over the exhaust manifold really well ( Atleast I thought) Saw no cracks or any other damage.. So I figures I would save the money that it would cost for a new one and just put the old one back in and would ya know, Sure enough the damn exhaust manifold is cracked and I can hear that exhaust leaking, Hate that damn noise..
All because I tried to save 130.00 bucks, Now I have to pull the exhaust side all apart again, ... Well, New maniifold is on the way

What?!
This is the only thread i found on this, So i had to join although i have a tj (Shhh..) it's been killing me for two weeks!! I put an 05' 4.0 into my 97 (switched injectors, alternator, other stuff) to fit my wiring harness, then we switched the coil packs to distributor, set it to 3, 4 AND 5 o'clock pos. Got the best and only results which was still way out of time at 4 o'clock.. wouldn't idle rpms jumped and only ran with my foot on the gas, what the heck am i missing?!

Maybe you can static time it. I had to time my old 63 cj5 that way. Just turn engine until # 1 cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke. Then pop off dist. cap and look where the rotor is pointing. Connect your #1 wire to that tower and just follow firing order for other 5.
