I deal with this kind of stuff everyday......you proly have a browser hijacker trojan or a virus.......go to download.com (it's a very reputable place to download) get the free "avg antivirus" and "spybot search and destroy" and run them.....I have the paid versions but the free versions work just fine for basic stuff. You most likely visited a site that gets paid per install or it pigged backed on a file you downloaded. It's just a scam so they make a sale on a program that is BS. Malwarebytes is also a decent free program you can try.
If you need a FREE antivirus either get Avast or Commando..

I had to use ComboFix and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware in safe mode because the virus would not let me run the exe. file......vicious bugger!!!!!

Yeah sure use whatever you like. Where you using the free version? Like I said it's good for basic stuff. And just so you know I don't think there is a single program that can catch every virius, trojan or whatever is the problem. Sometimes you need to do a few different things to have a totally "clean" PC

Yeah its definitely a scam into scarring you into thinking you computer is crashing. I had a mac laptop, and the thing popped up (not on cf, on a different forum) and it came up like a windows xp style scan. Went out and got a norton anti virus with active scanner/ blocker. Best program I've used for the money.
