I think it is possible. I use VMWare Fusion for my virtual machine. As far as I know, they have all the bases covered.

Lol... Think I understand now. For energy efficiency tax credits and etc.? There is a lot of that type of data use in the solar energy field also.

Yep... From what I was just reading you can use linux to build a virtual machine to run windows in. But... I'm thinking you still might be stuck with the inefficiencies of windows because basically you are still running the windows OS but just doing it through a proxy OS. I'm thinking no matter how you run it It's still windows with all it's problems...

There is software called Wine to run windows applications as a standalone system through linux without needing a windows OS at all. But this would be a trial and error situation depending on well it might work on a program by program basis. I will play with this when I get time and see how well it works.

Yeah, I am sure there is a way. But I am reluctant to mess with this since it is my livelihood.

I can absolutely understand that cautious situation too. Don't try to lift the hood and work on a car while you are driving it. lol

Yeah, it would cost a lot in potential income to screw it up

And nothing ever goes as planned without issues.

I figured out what it is with my uploads... My data plan has reduced my speed. The script here is seeing this and timing out then shutting down my uploads because of my slower data connection. But it didn't used to do this and would allow me to poke along through my only "slightly" slower uploads. This ain't no good... because I'm sure I am not the only one who has an occasional slower data connection for some reason or another, especially from phones where 4g is not always available...

IIRC net neutrality has been done away with. I wonder if that has anything to do with upload time

Oh I'm certain that at some point the new IP data mining and censoring filter issues are going to affect speeds with everything. This new capability and legal power was not thought through very well at all. Cause and effect...

But in this case I tested it using one of my own scripts and had no problems because of how I set my upload options and controls. The script here is detecting and shutting them down just like youtube does with videos if you have a slow connection.
