Yellow Cat in the snow
Yesterday I headed out and met up with Derek and his friend Jay in a TJ at Crescent Junction. Our destination was the Yellow Cat area north of Arches National Park to explore some old mines. This is an area I have wanted to explore for a while, and I was not disappointed. However, I think I will need to head back after the snow melts off, since it was difficult for us to keep track of where the trails went, and we spent a lot of time hiking ahead to figure out where we were We did end up finding a few mines, plus we got to play in the snow! Here's some pics!

Awesome pics Randy!
I have always wanted to check out that area as well! Probably because its more on the remote side and the usual " I wonder whats out there" syndrome. Ever since I first visited Arches years ago and looked on the map I wondered what that area is like. I can imagine it was hard navigating out there with the snow and the fact there is a maze of roads up there especially in the Mollie Hogans / Memphis hill area. I wonder why there are so many roads out in the middle of no where. Maybe it had to do with the mining. I assume you went in off of 191? Its amazing the difference in snow depending on altitude. I was in the Hurrah Pass / Cane Creek area today and there are only a few traces of snow around except for some in the shady areas.
I love the engine with a view shot! that's great and the mines looked cool as well. Thanks for giving me a glimpse into a place I have always wondered about!

yep....all the roads are there because of all the mining that went on in the area. We started off on 191 and made our way across the area to 128
