Here's mine! This is fall 2012. A buddy in his TJ was in front of me on the trail and he got stuck in it... So I pulled him out and had to try it for myself! When I got stuck, of course he couldn't do it (bald tires)... So he just pulled around infront of me, shined his lights and started taking pics... Awesome...
Headlight underwater..
The rear passenger wheel was off the ground...
I was sitting in water up to about my knees... Then it started raining... My dad came with his 04 Sierra and got me out....Good times! Haha. Damage was a cracked manifold, 2 blown speakers (eventually they all shorted out) and countless electrical issues that I'm still battling but oh well!
Here's me and the same XJ in the same hole when I tried it again about a year later....just goin in from the opposite side...
This is before I got my XJ. It's in my old 1999 Chevy Tahoe 4x4. She was a big girl.
I went off the center of the trail and landed in the marsh.
Then a few months later I crashed, it rolled over 2-3 times. Doing about 50. I didint get a scratch on me, a little shaken up and sore. But nothing more, I'm lucky to be alive, and seat belts do save lives!
Then I ripped out the windshield,
And the doors.
Then drops it around for about a week till I junked it. The alignment wasn't even off. I just had a busted shock and a bent leaf spring shackle. There was over $8000 invested mechanically. -.-
This is my worst that I have of my truck a pic from my bumper that was even with softer ground. I had gone through this multiple times and went their one night thankfully right after i got my winch. It was like 2am with my gf and just sank completely in the swampy slop of mud. U can even see how swampy it was truck sits at about 4.5-5 inches of lift on 33s and it just took a while. I had fun with the winch and the skinny pedal to get out alone. ruined a pair of shoes but still had fun. Only have this pic was dark and trying to stay out of the mud. btw hard to tell but the top of the bumper is about even with the mud thats flat lol
Went out at a buddies dads rock quarry. She sunk quick. Broke 12,000 lb winch rope trying to winch myself out. Took a dump truck to pull me out. Jeep has a 6.5" lift on 35's
This was my brother-in-law on our last trip to the Badlands in Attica, IN. He was leading the group through the pipes section and we discovered too late that even the shallow side was not so shallow. Those are 285/75/R16's buried there BTW.
Stuck, took two 12k winches to pull me out backwards. Theres about 1 inch of water there, the rest is sand, my jeeps is on 35s and 6.5 lift lol. I could reach out my window and get a handful of wet sand.
^ Saturated sand is often a quagmire. Especially if it was recently deposited or flooded.
I have to watch out for it too, learn to read the signs and keep rubber boots in the jeep to test walk sketchy areas. If it's spongy, no go.
