Default The Cinders (Flagstaff, AZ)

The cinders is an OHV area located just outside of Flagstaff, AZ and its close enough for us desert dwellers to escape the heat in the summer time.

The best I can describe it is very similar to the dunes, except instead of sand its very small gravel, volcanic gravel.

Setting up camp, no fancy RV for us, we tent it!

The quads and bikes race up $100 hill, while the rest of us look on.

My co-pilot

Still some snow on top of The San Francisco Peaks, Humphreys Peak is the highest point in the state of Arizona at 12,633 feet.

the drags

Kinda looks like I may actually have some speed in this one.

$100 looks scary. do alot of people flip it up there??? is it mainly for quads and dirt bike or have you meet some one risky enough to take their rig up that???

I have seen rails do it, but mostly bikes and quads, most quads don't make it all the way. I've never witnessed a full size vehicle try it, however I saw a video of a chevy truck try it on youtube, he didn't get very far.

You take great pictures by the way. If you're in Flagstaff again there's some really rocky pipeline roads off of Leupp road if you're looking for something to do. I live around there I just did some exploring a few weeks back

Not sure where that is, did a google maps search, is that Indian land?
We usually go up every may, I took my truck this last time.
Was up in Williams a couple weeks ago for Bearizona and stopped in at the arboretum on the way back.

Mighty fine photos. I can see why everyone says such wonderful things about the Cinders. You're making me want to escape.

you can definatley make it around to all the main areas out there in a 2wd. I wouldn't count on all the hills and what not though.
