I have a 1990 cherokee with a 4.0, need a newer motor or something in good enough shape to fix up with out too much work. Can anyone help me out?

 

If no one on here does check out the local junk yards. I have the name a a cpl good ones at the shop I can post Tom. We did have a stroker sitting around but someone just bought it up.

Okay sadly the yards around here dont have anything you would want to just throw in. But 4WD hardware has motors with 3 year unlimited miles warranty on them. 1987-90 4.0 is 1494.99 and 4.0 from 91-01 are 1594.99. They have free shipping on the engine and free shipping for the core. They come complete with cyl head, rocker arms, timing stuff, gasket installation kit, new oil pump, three angle valve job, crank is stress relieved and micro polished.

 

How far are you from 92308?
I've got one out of an 88, pulled and in running order. 193k, was pulled and a mini stroker installed in its place.

Had 23-24psi hot idle, always ran Delo 15W40. Will let it got for 400.

Yes sir, 23-24psi hot idle is 100% normal. As said always ran Delo which has a high zinc content which flat tappet motors need!

It was pulled only to be replaced by a upgraded 4.2L mini stroker. Otherwise it would still be in there kicking away!

 

I have an 89 4.0 in 93720, It came out a wrecked xj that was rear-ended, has about 200k on it, it probably needs a good inspection and cleaning. Would let it go for $200
