How many teeth are still one the 4.88s for the d30? 2?

 

How much for a new carrier if i want to gear to 4.10's. And will I need a new carrier for both axles? Dana30/8.25. Thanks.

 

4.88 has 8 teeth. 4.56 9. I have read and read and never found anything other than internet talk to confirm how many teeth or how much of the tooth is in contact with the ring gear at any given time.
Id like to see a definitive answer from a reliable source. I may do some research on my own as well.
