Busted manual locker?

it is definitely a low pinion, not 100 percent sure it's a d30, but 99 percent anyways.
which makes sense, a 2000 and 2001 cherokee are both low pinion d30 stock.

are you making sure they are snapped right into the locked position?
it could also be something inside, like if it has an auto locker that is messed up and not unlocking, it goes to the next weakest link.
pull the diff cover and look inside for anything out of the ordinary.

The ONLY way you can snap that locking hub is if the tire/wheel tries to move and the hub/axle shaft doesn't, or the hub/axle shaft tries to move and the tire/wheel doesn't....or something pops the end off like above.
can you put up pics of the hub & shaft that broke the other day ??
When I broke my hub, I had a 39" tire spinning that suddenly grabbed....SNAP.

You have other issues. If the hub is locked in, then whether it is locked in properly or not.....when the axle shaft turns, the wheel will turn...either from the axle shaft spinning, or from the ground since the other tires are turning & moving the vehicle. If both are turning, there's no way for the hub to break unless you have something pushing the shaft out so it pops the end off the hub, or you have something that is cocking the axle shaft so that it is prying the end off the hub.

Those pics do me no good...I want to see the actual broken hub & shaft it was on when it broke.....not some generic picture.
If I'm gonna try & help ya figure out why YOURS are breaking, I need to see YOURS.....

well a simple look around in daylight reveals a busted u joint so im not sure if the axle play has to do with the ujoint / if it will go away with a new u joint as i said in the video im coming from working on older imports these american trucks are still foreign territory to me

1) obvious...busted u-joint
2) not so obvious....looks like too much play in the axle shaft which is partly due to the u-joint. I say looks like, because I do not know just how that conversion kits puts everything together. On my rig that had a conversion kit, the axle shaft was free to spin in the bearing, and it looks like yours may be too. I use to use that fact to get low range 2wd by going to low range, but NOT locking the hubs in. I do not remember if it had a snap ring or something to limit the in & out movement you showed with a good u-joint.
Now, were you turning when you busted the hub ?? That extra play could push the shaft OUT, and pop the hub....hard to see from the video...and not knowing for sure how the bearings/hub/shaft play together, I can't say for sure right now.
Are there any wear marks or anything like that on the inside of the hub pieces that might indicate what happened ??
