I'm considering doing a 6.5" lift on my XJ. I've done a 4.5" in the past, and it was good, but not big enough. My question is, is there anything else that you guys recommend besides adjustable control arms, drag link, quick disconnect sway bar links. I've been looking at an SYE kit but I'm not sure if it's really necessary or not. My other question is how do the Chrysler axles handle 33 tires? Am I going to have to regear in the future?

Yes to SYE. Some will say you won't but its basically a must at that height in my opinion.

D30 and C8.25 27 or 29 spline can handle 33s no problem. D35 not so much.

Yes you will have to regear.

Also. Now this is kinda personal preference. But at 6.5" of lift you might want to consider a long arm set up vs adjustable short arms.

I assume you know you need extended brake lines?

I have a three inch lift on my 1989 Cherokee and I want to put 31's on. I was wondering what type of all-terrains would be the best?? I live in an area with a lot of sand and some mud.

Hey guys, I tried looking through this thread to see if its been talked about, but 1433 pages is too much.


Ive got a Rusty's 8" long arm lift setup currently on my jeep with 35's. The ride is very rough...like Im driving with no suspension. you feel EVERYTHING. I am going down to 6.5" coils(already 6.5" leaf springs in rear), so Im hoping that will help some.


Originally, the shop that put the tires on inflated them to ~40psi and I let it down to 32 psi, which helped some, but its still pretty rough. Im gona try going to 28 psi


Now, the kit's age is unknown. It was on the jeep when I bought it, and I was considering replacing the shocks, but wanted to know what shocks would be good for a softer, more comfortable ride? Its a DD, not a rockcrawler or any offroad stuff.


It just seems backwards to me. Ive got a lowered car with very stuff suspension, and it rides much smoother then the Jeep. I would have thought that a lifted jeep, has more travel room, so would absorb bumps better and be a smoother ride.


My question: Are their shocks I can swap out that will create a ride quality closer to stock?

First off, unless you're carrying several hundred pounds of cargo or really heavy bumper with tire carrier, 32 is way too much and so might be 28. With 35s, you may have to go down to 25-26. Do the chalk test to see how its wearing.

I run 26 in my 33s. But I'm always prepared with thousands of puns in my head.

Hey guys, I ordered my tires the other day. General grabber at2(31x10.50x15). I'm still looking at lifts. Right now it is between the Zone 4.5" full leaf, Zone 3" full leaf, and RE full leaf super-ride 3.5". Correct me if I'm wrong but I still need a track bar, steering stabilizer, shocks, and transfer case drop with the RE lift. Any opinions on decent shocks to go with that won't break my bank? Thanks

With the RE lift you will need a track bar and shocks. You won't know if you need a t case drop or SYE until you drive the Jeep lifted. Can't remember if brake lines come with that kit or not either...

For shocks, I like Bilstein 5100's in the 255/70 valving. Serious offroad can get you hooked up for like $312 for all 4 I think.

If you're very budget minded, that Zone 3" kit will do you good and should come more "complete".

My RE kit came with the rear line, but not the front on the 3.5" kit. But, the stock lines had plenty of slack.
I did have to add the tc drop and prolly gunna shim the axle a few degrees very soon.

Alright , question
Here's what I have
98 XJ with 242 tcase
3" zone lift with new leaf pack, got a real bad vibe driving so I installed tcase drop ... Looking to get a hack n tap from iron rock question is , have any of you ran a 3" lift with the front driveshaft after hack n tap install ??? From what I'm told the front shaft will work only on 4" and up...
