2.8 tech questions
I know this thread is mostly just about sharing pics and stats of our older model cherokees, so please forgive this perhaps post.
I'm just wondering if any of you know of a good resource for tech info/advice on the v6 2.8l motor? I use cherokee forum all the time, but I often run into troubles finding info specific to this motor due to its unpopularity amongst most jeepers.
Right now I'm trying to find out about an a/c delete... all 4.0 motor talk is about getting a bypass pulley, which they do not make for the 2.8l motor as far as I can tell. Also, when I just visually inspect the belt system under the hood, it seems like if I just pull the a/c system, belt and all, that it wouldn't cause any problems with the rest of the belts.
Again, I apologize in advance for the tech question post, I'm just looking for at least a nudge in the direction of a 2.8l resource... Thanks!

No problem. No need to short belt, just got home and double checked. I couldn't remember the belt routing while I was sitting brain dead in traffic. Lol. If you have any other questions feel free to ask here or message me.

got an 86 MJ project... sorry i quickly removed the original drive train and harness.
However i do enjoy looking at the paint scheme's from the early to middle 80's on the jeeps. They were a little more entailed than the later years and into the 90's Jeeps.

I ended up doing the 3.4 swap a couple summers ago. When I did that, I got rid of all the emmissions control stuff and now only have a few vacuum lines coming off the carb (soo much room in the engine compartment now!!). If anyone wants more information about that stuff, feel free to ask!

Nice! Yeah, the stock GKN style driveshaft can't handle much of an angle due to their design. You can use the front shaft out of a 2.5L with a mt or go the custom route. I'm running a shortened Explorer ds in my '86. You'll also need to swap your front output yoke to one off a 231.
