It's definately to bad these tube benders are so expensive... My bumpers going to look pretty rugged with angle cuts. How much did this set up cost to build? I heard the dies are still excrutiatingly (sp...lol) expensive...

the die was the expensive part at 312 shipped to my door regular price is 310 plus shipping
this is the gottrikes bender style B and i called the number Frank provides and got the discount on the dies

as far as material cost
$100 for the square tube and all the plates
$15 in bolts
$70 for the bushing from gottrikes
$80 for the air/hydr ram
$35 i think in the rods from mcmastercarr
$18 for the plans

total of $318 + the die

so thats cheaper then JD2 or Pro Tools for the manual benders

i work in a fab shop and did get my material discounted which is basicly 30% cheaper then your going to find it on a normal bases so it may not be as cheap for you to build it

as far as liking the bender i think its great. i do suggest a digital degree finder that you can put on the pipe/ tube and zero out or look on the gottrikes site at others builds and copy the one who used a degree ring from Pro Tools. However that degree ring cost just as much as a digital degree finder and the degree finder you can find more uses for it.
all in all im very happy with it i would like to get a tighter center line radius then pro tools offers but thats my only complaint and 5.5 CLR and 6.0 CLR arnt that far off

its made for pro tools dies only
from what ive seen pro tools and jd2 use different hole spacings for the pins if a set of jd2 dies was available to get the measurements from im sure it could be changed but the hole pattern in the upright tubes and the holes in the large plates would change

Nice! I like the looks of this one with the extensions on the side better. I noticed on the last one you built though it didn't have the extended tie-ins that I thought you built. What happened to that?

And ya, you're right, the Protools and JD dies have different spacing.

Oh and hey, not sure if you knew about these guys or not but they carry some killer builder parts. My buddy makes tube carriers for Land Rovers and just ordered their carrier spindle. It's BEAST and very well machined. You can't beat the price on it either. Especially considering it comes with a billet cover to the bearings instead of those stamped bearing caps. Just thought I would drop you the link in case it helped you out.

this is the one I'm talking about.

Thanks having options for parts is always a good thing and that does look like a beefy spindle but the jeeptubes spindle i use is rated at 1200 pounds and is half the price.

the one im doing now and the one i did for Plum both have the uni body tie ins that run 14 inchs inside the uni body picking up 5 holes per side and have 1/4x2 plates for the under side any time i do a carrier these tie ins (or the new design of tie ins im working on) will be included

if it was just a bumper no carrier i will give the option of with or with out the tie ins with a cost difference of 30 dallors
but with the carriers i wont ship them without tie ins as i dont trust the factory 8 locations to hold the weight

still working out the design of the new tie ins
im tring to keep the strength but down size them so they fit in the factory holes so there is no cutting of the rear involved to make installation easier and give those who dont want to cut there rig an option

Nice! Ya, that's a good source too; hadn't seen that one yet. I really like this bullet cap on this one but the one you're using looks beefy too. I like the fab skills. Keep up with the pictures please!
