Just bought 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it seemed the car worked fine when i took it home. The next day the car drove good then randomly i heard this ridiculously loud whistling noise that sounded like it was coming from the rear of the car. This sound occurs when the jeep is warmed up and the accelerate, and quickly disappears when ever i let off the gas. Any one have any idea what this noise is and how to make it go away ???

now a whistling noise and a howl is a different thing, rearend gears will make noise under power and quit with your foot off. (generally referred to as a howl) That is the bad news. I would start with looking at the u-joints, they can do strange things when they are dry and tight.
when someone says whistling noise I think of windows letting air in.

My 2001 Grand Cherokee was making a loud sound like a tea kettle going off. At first when I would touch the gas it would go away, but after a while it stayed even through shifting gears. I found the source and it was my idle pulley. Once I replaced it the sound stopped. Hope this helps.

It's possibly a plugged catalytic convertor. Listen at the tailpipe and have someone rev at up.
