Default Jerking/bucking in overdrive

Wonder if someone could help. Lately when driving my 95 grand Cherokee v8 it'll start bucking when it shifts to OD but only when accelerator is pressed and mainly in the 40-55 mph range. Turn off OD and it stops. I just recently changed the trans fluid and filter. It started doing this shortly after, like a week. Since then I've changed dist cap & rotor, fuel filter, and removed the cat. Plugs & wires have maybe 15k on em. I'm worried the trans is going out.

I would double check the plugs and wires...and put the catalytic converter back on.

VSS? Not sure about the criteria it uses to shift to and maintain OD...MAP or TPS....? Scan data would be helpful

The VSS is a big player for making decisions on gear selection. TPS, MAP, VSS, and CKS are the major sensors for the transmission operation.

Agree. VSS my suspect but alla the above are certainly major players.

Welcome to CF!

This might help. My 2000 WJ has a CEL for "throttle position sensor voltage too high" and it won't shift into O/D at all and hesitates and bucks if you give it too much throttle. It has 194K miles on the original, so I figure I've got my moneys worth out of it. Time for a change. I ordered a Mopar part from rockauto.com for $86+$21 next day express and I'm still ahead of the $130 dealer price. Oh... and the dealer had to order it, too!
