when I shifted and turned the shaft by hand

grands came with a few different t-cases.

231 - part time - 2hi-4hi-n-4lo
242 - full/part time - 2hi-4hi f/t-4hi p/t-n-4lo
249 - all time - 4hi-n-4lo

249 came in most or all v8 grands and some 4.0L options.

it should. what did it come off?
i'm not sure if it's a different t-case from the 42RE tranny that most grands came with, or the trannys that come behind the 5.2/5.9.

i know most will swap out the 249 for the 242 so they save gas and still have the option of full time 4wd.

i'll see what i can come up with.

You really don't want a 249, they are considerably weaker than the 231 or the 242. HTH!! There is also not any AM support for them.

If you don't get an answer soon then post the question in the GC Chat section and someone there can find out which TC you have in a 94 GC.
