Rear Differential Torque Spec
I read the manual and couldn't find a torque spec for the rear differential. I just drained the rear and repainted the cover last night, since it was a grimy. I'm getting ready to put on the cover soon. I also want to do the front diff today so is it the same? Appreciate your help.

Click the link in my sig, go to the Tech Index. If I don't have torque specs for your year (yet...) grab the page that's close to yours.
Oh - and since you painted the cover, don't screw up the paint! Use flat washers under the screw heads, or you'll flake the paint off and you'll have to start over.
Most differential covers tend to want 20-35 pound-feet of torque on the screws, but I find that German torque ("gutentiet") is usually sufficient. Use a paper gasket.

I made sure everything lined up well, I spread the high temp rtv and bolted it up. I put a little rtv on the bolts. I set it to 15 lb-ft and bolted using a criss cross pattern like a rocker cover. I just put 40 miles on it with the mobil 1 synthetic 75-140 no leaks.
Just a note to everyone, 2 bottle mobil 1 in a Chrysler 8.25 is all you need. I bought a 3rd only used three pumps from the bottle pump on the 3rd bottle before it was topped off. I'm just thinking of dropping the rest of the bottle in the front diff, couldn't hurt so at least i have one unopened 75-90. I shredded the receipt by accident for autozone, doh!
