thanks for the help ehall.......this goes between the pump and fuel filter right?
and should I consider replacing the soft hose from the pump to the back side of fuel filter while i'm there? I really appreciate all the help!

so I checked the fuel pressure at the rail while running and the gauge showed 28 psi
then I shut off the engine and it dropped to zero fast........while the engine was running I pressed on the gas and the pressure dropped from 28psi to like 20 or lower. I am guessing this is most definitely a fuel pump problem. can the fuel pump be replaced with tank in place or does it have to be dropped? I did replace the cooling temp sensor over the weekend and didn't see any change in starting permance so im guessing that was a waste!

On your 92 the enter fuel sender assembly can be removed without moving the tank. Its awkward on your back with the rear axle in your face but doable. Its easier with a shop lift that lets the axle unload and drop.
