grinding/knocking noise under drivers side floor

Default grinding/knocking noise under drivers side floor

i got a 1998 jeep cherokee classic (4wd 4.0 liter) and every so often im hearing a noise underneath my drivers side door. when i start up the car and accelerate it hear it ( if i just turn on the car or sometimes when I turn.) the noise is every so often and really feel it in my floor. any ideas????

Check to.see if one of your exhaust mounts are broke

Check to make sure your exhaust isn't resting on the cross member. I had that problem, and it was giving me a really odd vibration and noise that I could feel in my feet.

This^^ and have a close look at your motor and trans mounts being the root cause.

i did take a look under the car and the exhaust is resting on the cross member. going to get a hanger for it this weekend. would that do the trick?

Not if the mounts are bad..............

Maybe both bushings and mounts.......

I agree with inspecting the mounts, also check the bolts from trans to motor. The reason I think control arm bushings is if it happens during turning and acceleration. Granted, that can be the mounts as well. Try shaking the control arms with the vehicle on flat ground, see if there is any play.
