Flexplate holes bigger than the bolt shaft ???

Those flat-head bolts you have may apply stress around the holes. Cracked flex plates seem to be common on many brands of vehicles, so it's a crap shoot if those will work without a failure....

I don't think I like that idea Childeric. Very little contact area, and pushing outward right where it's known to crack. Ken's approach makes more sense to me.

Thanks for the undoubtedly wise council, I suppose I should get a set of the new type bolts. Then again I might leave them in and go thrash it just to see what happens... I'm the curious sort, and I have another flexplate.

Yea! I am curious as well...hope she don't go Ka boom! (once I removed my mom's VW clutch with a whisk broom....(another story....

Get the 18mm bolts.

If you plan on switching those bolts out for the new bolts now would be the time to do it. If you give that Red Loctite time to fully set up you may have to put heat to them to get them out.
