I wouldn't trust any armor built by me!

I did make some cool gates for my deck though.

The OF o ring fits just like it did on the adapter. When I took the adapter off the o rings felt like plastic. They hadn't been touched since 88. I dont see any reason I'd have any problems. What kind of newer filter do you wanna use? I used the Fram PH3895 if I remember right. Just the normal replacement for the engine with the adapter. Its full size and works. im goin wheeln today so ill let everyone knows how it holds up and if I have problems. I really dont think I will tho. (Knock on wood, I just jinxed myself probly)

I know this is old but I have this conversion and haven't had luck with it. I did it to my 89 and also the 95 ho that I swapped it was already done (got from a buddy on here). The problem I have is before I put just new motor mounts in when I bought my jeep I would dent and crack the oil filter and wouldn't know it till I got somewhere and see it leaking oil everywhere. I could do that just taking off to hard from a stop light. I changed my trans mount and it helps but I still dented the oil filter over the weekend wheeling. It didn't crack it. But I start to keep a spare filter just in case it happens. Im been think about a remote oil filter just so I can be done with the dented oil filters and get a bigger filter. That and I could have bought one already in the with the filters I have damaged. Just a heads up to anyone who might do this mod make sure your motor mounts and trans mount are good/new before hand or replace them when doing this mod or you might find out the hard way that one of your mounts are no good.

I have a 2000 XJ and eliminated the adapter over a year ago. No problems whatsoever, even after having to do a little off roading last week.

I wonder why your two XJs have a problem when mine doesn't?

Could it be that you are still trying to use the standard length filter instead of using a shorter filter as the instructional recommended?

why would you use a shorter filter when you can get a o ring kit fix the adapter leak and then run a bigger filter and have zero problems with it hitting anything at all?

This "conversion" reminds me of the guys who tint their taillight lenses and then want brighter bulbs.....

Both ideas are rather "dim" in my book.

Yep. You think they spent all the money on that contraption for nothing?
