weird tick
I have a 98 xj sport. I have a weird tick that just started. It sounds to me that it is coming from the ac compressor. This is a constant tick at idle and running speed. The compressor was replaced about 2 years ago and I checked the mechanical fan for rubbing and it seems fine. Any ideas? It's very annoying and I would like to get this fixed. Thanks in advance

get a stethoscope for 10-15 bucks at autozone and find out where it's coming from... I had a tick, tore my engine down and installed a comp cam and lifter set, just to get it all back together and find out it was my water pump.

not the same kind of stethoscope... hers has a flat end for going on skin. You need a mechanic's stethoscope.
