At least one of the aforementioned links should have all the info required to do an install. You either use the A/C compressor or an alternate air source but everything is pretty much the same other than the compressor used Joshman503.

How about using a portable air tank like those for filling tires??
I got one from Ricer Boys going out of business sale here for $10 bucks...
A decent 12v compressor, and a pressure switch, a relay and the wiring.. I'm betting right around $100 for total outlay...

Might have overpaid then b/c my ARB compressor by itself was $150 and I don't have the pressure switch yet. I figure another $100 besides the compressor. BTW if I had it to do again I would buy the Viaair compressor. It is a little more volumn and a little more compact in overall size. Look for the highest duty cycle closest to or 100%.

If you want a suggestion on the air tank. Look at wrecked tractor trailer rigs. Some have a row of two or three and one of those are small enough to tuck into a recess on an XJ. Just an idea. Those tankes have multiple threaded ports as well.

yes, thanks, right now im trying to decide. I have three in mind, old 15ld fire extinguisher, a old brake tank like you suggested or a old 3 or 4 gallon compressor tank. Just trying to find the right fit now. Have my eye on some and also waiting on some more parts.

A buddy has OBA on his work truck and it was all put together from a HF pancake compressor and he uses a 12v compressor from 4WDH that his company bought for him. I haven't seen it but he described it to me. But he robbed all the parts such as switch and pop off safety from the HF setup. Used their tank behind the seat in the pickup body and the compressor is mounted under the hood. Intake is routed through the trucks airbox. All with the blue goodyear hoses and SS hose clamps. He has an air manifold in the pickup bed and uses it to clean out pipes with compressed air.(oil field stuff)
