Replace it with a AX-15 or a NV3550. The BA10 is only good as a paper weight. They are the worst manual transmission out there...

The price for parts to repair it will probably scare you.....
One trick that has met with some short term sucess is to drain the fluid and replace it with high end stuff... Like Redline MT-1 or Amsoil Manual Transmission and Transaxle.

NV 3550 is a near bullet proof tranny from everything I have seen and read. They are not cheap in the j/y but if located it will be worth your time to change it out for your boat anchor!

I would not wish Amsoil on any one in a Jeep, that stuff sucks..

Do you hear banjos?
Sorry to swin upstream here, but I had one and it worked great!! With that being said if I were in the same position as our freind Slow, I would replace it with one of the aforementioned peices. My old XJ is still on the road with a BA-10 in it with 200,000+ miles on it. It had 190,000 on it when I sold it, and it worked like butter all the time! It never gave me a bit of trouble, and I was not easy on it, by any means!! The only real problem I see with the tranny is that it's French!! LOL!! JK!!
