Default After SYE install ?

Do I need to leave the shims in after I install the SYE or can they come out?

Leave em. The sye fixes the angle at the t case. The shims fix the angles at the pinion

I thought that the pinion should point up towards the output shaft if you are using a CV joint? something tells me I heard of the single U-joint going bad cause the pinion it not pointing up.

just my 2 cents, but it's your rig do as you please.

wait just seen this and they say that the pinion should be 2 degrees lower then the shaft to allow slight rotation of the single U-joint for lubrication.

With stock rear driveshaft...the pinion should point pretty much straight forward (just like the output shaft on the tc is pointing straight back). however, if you put in a sye and double cardon driveshaft, you need to point the pinion up at the rear output shaft. and as said above ^ keep it a few degrees below the angle of the driveshaft. this is accomplished with shims. a magnetic/stick on angle finder works great for this.
