Default 70 Olds fan shroud

Hey everyone,

I was cruising around this morning in my 70 Cutlass and I had a little scare. I was Making a hard left from a complete stop, and in the middle of the turn, during acceleration (I don't beat on the car, but I love the skinny pedal), I hear this insane 'POP' noise.

Get her home, lookin underneath for a broken tie rod end or another suspension piece (all original up front)...nothing.

Got under the hood, and my fan shroud is in a couple different pieces, partially resting on the fan.

So obviously, the fan made contact with the shroud and showed it who was boss...my question is...why?

And my educated guess is..
Motor mounts

What do ya'll think?

Thanks!
