The connector on my alternator had the little tab break off that holds the wire end connector on.
I'd have a temporary fix in progress - JB Weld to reproduce that ramp, and holes drilled in the housing to hold a zip tie or three. But I'd like to get a new terminal block if possible. It seems like these blocks may have a capacitor or diodes inside, so they may be quite specific in application.
I believe mine is factory Denso TN421000-0752, which should equate to Mopar 4801779AI.
The below part looks identical to mine, but the closest matching OEM applications listed are 421000-0770 and 4801778AI. The latter of these is shown on Mopar's website as being applicable to the Grand Cherokee up until 2015.
Anyone have info on rebuild parts or kits for these alternators?
Here's my progress on the temp fix by the way.
Little hole drilled for better epoxy adhesion:
Little form for the new ramp shape. Will obviously need to be filed shorter and to have more of a ramp shape, but I figured a bit too much at first was better than a bit too little. Main goal was to get that back face to be perpendicular to the connector surface.
Here's the JB Weld ramp. Turned out pretty good I think, and seems like it should be plenty strong for retaining the connector, especially with that plug of epoxy in the drilled hole. Only thing I would have done differently is maybe flare that hole on the internal side so that even if there was poor adhesion to the plastic, the ramp would stay in place as long as it didn't break.
Got the new parts in, but was in a bit of a hurry so didn't have time for good pictures.
Both the 46-82207 terminal block and 39-8206 brush assembly seem to be near identical matches. All resistance tests with the terminal block matched up with the original. Output voltage is about 14.6-14.7 at idle as expected. The fitment when reassembling was a bit right, but no significant issues.
Be careful if ordering parts from aspwholesale.com. They accidentally shipped my parts to my billing address instead of the shipping address and, apparently in response to this, have implemented a new policy:
"NOTE: If paying buy credit card.
Orders are only shipped to the credit card billing address unless prior arrangements have been made"
