alright so my friend has a 03' grand cherokee. got the v8 and the all time 4 wheel drive. a week or two ago his jeep would be making this weird whine noise when he hit the gas and went down the road. and then his jeep was getting hard to turn almost no power assist. so he checked the power steering fluid and it was empty so he refilled it. it worked ok for 2 days and now it seems like the steering wheel is locked, won't turn right or left and if you try to force it the power steering pump whines like stuck hog. haha so my question is should i replace the power steering pump for him since he ran it dry for a while and now it finally broke? or could it be something else since it has all time 4 wheel drive. thanks alot for the help dont' know much about the grand cherokee's and just tryin to get him back on the road.
