1996 XJ Manual Front Door Lock mechanism will not lock / unlock using key or Lock rocker lever.
If I move the interior Lock rocker lever back and forth, it will eventually unlock. The door closes on the latch normally. Key tumbler operates normally. If the internal plastic parts are worn, is there a source of NOS (New Old Stock) available?

Does the key turn inside the lock cylinder?

 

Yes. Key tumbler is not an issue its the connector mechanisms.

 

I would try using a light spray oil to clean and lube the latch , they get dirty and gummed up .
