Ok, drove the Jeep around the parking lot and unstuck the front driver caliper.
Transmission was grinding, and I could only get the Jeep to move when in 4x4.
Apparently I had my transfer case and tyranny all out of whack. The XJ guy that works next door heard the grinding and saw my frustration. He had me turn the Jeep off, then put the transmission in Neutral.,,THEN slide the transfer case into 2Hi. Good to go!
Sluggishnes gone. I even did a burnout. We’ll, I chirped the tired when I pulled away.
Smile.
I’ll borrow some wiring supplies from work this evening and reattach all the rear wiring harness mess. That’s the plan, anyways.
I’m pretty sure the taillight had a plug that mated with the wiring bundle. Why did somebody cut this bundle of wires?
Lookit all these damn wires. And the colors don’t exactly match up to the wires on the taillights.
Here’s the driver footwell. I need to get some floors in this thing!
Here’s the front seat mount. I made a new crossmember out of this fat chunk of angle steel I got from work.
The original crossmember was rusted away to nothing.
Driver caliper is def sticking. The problem area. Here’s the upper brake pad sliding surface. Caliper removed. Here’s the lower brake pad sliding surface, on the steering knuckle. It looks fine to me, but I hit them both with a wire brush. Then I put some anti-seize (all I had around) on the brake pad contact points and put everything back together. So I hop in the Jeep and fire it up- brake pedal went straight to the floor. Brake fluid is now pouring out of the hard line under the cab. It’s leaking somewhere under here.
I see 7’ of brake line, with flares and fittings fur like $18 at the local auto store (on their website.). Then I won’t need a flaring tool.
So now I gotta ride my bike to work, then ride home with 7’ of brake line. Maybe I can sortof coil it up for the ride. The 25’ length comes coiled.
