I haven't ever messed with those. If it was me, I would pull the cover and peek inside first. That will give you a better idea of where you need to start

Does anyone have any tips for how to hookup the locker?

I found this link for what appears to be the OEM air pump used on the TJ's.

Would that be the way to go or would buying something like an ARB air compressor with some switches be better/easier?
the 03-06 rubicon lockers take about 8-10 PSI ( i think) to actuate. An ARB takes about 90psi. You can use an ARB compressor for a TJ rubi locker, but you will need to put a regulator on it. you'll blow the seals out if you put full compressor pressure on the stock locker.

if you can source one, i'd just buy a factory pump.

Edit: Researching these a bit, definitely a weird setup but yes you only need about 8 psi (and no more) to operate the locker. Diving a bit further in, it appears these aren't the most reliable lockers in the world either.

Pull the air locker out and install a Detroit, problem solved.

Since there is a electrical plug, my guess is someone installed a E locker. I'd pop the cover & see.

A lot of folks run the stock front air locker in the rear. The rears are a LS when open & the design is prone to fail.

The wires provide feedback to the computer to tell it when the locker engages so you can see a light on your dash.

According to this thread another forum, the Rubi locker only needs 3 to 5 psi. The Mopar pump is $169.99. This got me thinking...

I wonder if I could rig the air locker to work with a simple air pump like this, controlled by a switch:

It's
$12.99 on Amazon $12.99 on Amazon
and according to the reviews it puts out about 5-6psi. Hmm...

For the price I'm gonna give it a try lol.

Hahaha when/if this air locker fails, then we'll see.

This was my understanding as well. I believe it is this sensor.

I haven't had a chance to yank the diff cover off yet (I know, I know...) but I was looking at the axle again tonight and noticed two potential air ports. I am assuming one inlet and one outlet? Or is one a vacuum line?

Anybody have any idea which is which?

EDIT: I found the answer to my own question from another forum.
