Default Project: Bass Akwards '95 RHD XJ

Newest toy, just picked it up this weekend.

'95 RHD imported from Japan
4.0/AW4/NP242
D35 with factory posi & ABS
3" lift (kinda, rear susp is Frankensteined)

Starting point

Condition of the trade, i kept my wheels/tires and Trucklites from the YJ. First step was pulling the ridiculous RC stinger bumper.

Just been going through it, seeing what im dealing with. TC linkage is gitchy, so following a good suggestion ive got the Boostwerks kit on its way, along with a new bumper and OE style shackles so i can swap in the 3" leafs that came with it.

Theyre Rough ****ry, bluh, but theyll do for now. Im sure ill end up swapping in an 8.25 like i did on the gold one, at which point itll get ProComp springs.

All in all pretty cool rig, looking forward to getting her out in the dirt where she belongs.

cool jeep. how about some interior pictures. was it hard getting it from Japan? I used to import tractors from Japan but the US customs made it financially nuts.

Thanks man. Yeah the interior is in shockingly good shape, especially given that it's leather. Actually the whole thing is in really nice shape for a '95, other than the mushed left rear door.

No rust whatsoever.

All the power acc still work. Seats, windows, mirrors, even the power antenna works like it should. Original hatch struts still work.

All in all, pretty surprised by the old girl.

So , I got me a right hand drive, that I am working on...Seemed like a cool thing, and it is....but when you look for replacement parts..it can get tricky,
An instrument cluster on a right hand ,is only interchangeable with a right hand cluster, climate controls also are not interchangeable..... Thats only what I have discovered so far... So be carefull..finding replacement parts for a RHD...is not as easy as a LHD..
Other than that...its a cool vehicle to have,,, IMHO

Lol, oh yeah, a lot of parts are RHD specific.

Most of the steering parts
90% of the dash
Most of the engine brackets/accessories
Some of the wiring harnesses
Seats
The AC hoses are unobtanium
Etc etc

Fun times!

Some more random stuff.

"unreaded onry"

Controls are upside down and backwards, lol. I guess the just flipped the bezel and relabelled it?

Cubby hole is still on the same side. Only that puts it behind the spare tire. Real handy.

Could be wrong, but i dont remember my '92 having "AMC" marked lenses.

Im guessing this bracket is for a dead-pedal? Also noticable is the lack of "nut cooler" underdash AC vent. Sad. That was one of my favorite things about the early XJs. Get out after a long hot day in the shop, have a vent that points right at the ol jewels.

So when you say most of steering parts,, are you referring to upper steering or everything between the two front wheels ???
