Did some slicing and welding to clean up the bumper today. I ran out of wire, so I'll have to get another roll to finish.

How do you like that welder? I'm wanting to learn how to weld and I've been looking at Hobart's stuff.

so far so good. Just using Flux-core right now until i can pick up a bottle of 75/25. It burns through 1/4" plate like a boss. pretty user friendly.

What'd you go with? Hockey pucks? I have to do this on mine yet... I drilled out the coil buckets for 1/2-20 but not sure the best way to go about it if I should get extended bumpstops up top too and then add pucks, etc, etc...

Picked up my Axles from getting re-geared. Got the 8.25 under it and bolted in loosely. Once i get the front axle set back in, ill set my rear pinion angle for SOA and weld the perches on. I will have to remove the AAL that the PO installed, as it sits at 7" of lift and the 35's look tiny now even with the Shorter XJ Shackles on there!

Axles are back under it. Spent a good 3 hours trying to dial in my front pinion angle and wheel base. i think i got it as close to perfect as i could. Wishing i had a 2 post lift. Tonight i will weld on the perches and remove the AAL

Well everything is all buttoned up. Got the pinion angles all dialed in for soa. However now my driveline is to short now. I only have about 1" of slip yoke engagement on the transfer case.

Got the Speedometer gear swapped out, so my dash reads correct now. Put about 200 miles of Daily Driving on the gear setup so far. Just did a re-torque last night of the ubolts and front end components. Ive forgotten how to drive a manual with an autolocker in the back end. Having to feather your take off to avoid the Clunk. the 35's and 4.88s are great for running around town. 1st gear is almost to low. starting out in 2nd seems to be ideal. at 70 mph, my RPMS are 2900. she feels like i could cruise all day. My fuel mileage has increased substatially. Before could only got 200 miles on a tank with 35's and 3.55 gears. Ive now gone 200 miles on 1/2 tank. The Spartan does chirp on corners on pavement, but seems to be less, as it gets broken in. THe Trutrac front is completely invisible in 2wd, and in 4wd on pavement there is only a slight tire hop on shart corners from a dead stop. Havent had a chance to test it off highway yet. 1 more tank of fuel and i will yank the diff covers, inspect everything and it should be good to go for full time duty!

Will be interesting to see how the tru-trac works out! I'm debating between Ox and the Powertrax Grip Pro. I wish they still made the Detroit Electrac! Whatcha doing to the XJ?
