also a good time to build a back bumper w/resse hitch... as the bolt-on resse hitch interferes with the end of the tailpipe... had to chop the last one a bit.... Lame.
It's funny how exhaust pipes can seem to randomly just at a certain spot and rust BAD when the rest of the piping is fine. I guess theres alot of factors at play but its odd and it can cause a world of trouble

Yeah,
I guess thats the cost of living in new england.
anyway, I ordered my DIY rear bumper kit..... hopefully get that zapped together soon then address the tailpipe.

I noticed that too. I replaced the exhaust in my '00, just used Walker parts, from the front cat back. I sprayed the outside of everything with some POR 15 heat paint. Sprayed the inside of the tailpipe with some too. Will it help? Time will tell.
Was that Gibson kit stainless or aluminized? I'm going to be doing a full exhaust replacement at some point on mine. Luckily mine isn't my DD, so i can wait until I can do it all in one shot.
With what was said above, I'm going to chime in with my .02...for living in a high rust area, I think it did okay. Yes, SS costs more. For a reason, it lasts longer. I got the Gibson header. Difference is this, I don't live in a rust prone area, and I got the SS ceramic coated header. It was not cheap, however, as stated above, it fit perfectly. To this day, it looks as good as it did the day I installed it. I then had to replace the cat and cat-back system, went with Walker on the cat and exhaust, with a Flowmaster 44. The cat itself was perfect, not wild about the 44, think I want to eliminate it and put a glasspack in, but the tailpipe? Awful fit. One exhaust hanger was WAY off. I ended up cutting the tailpipe off where it dumps behind the rear axle. All is good now.
If you live in a high rust area, get SS, at a minimum the coated steel, it will last longer.
And wash that undercarriage every so often! Fluid film in winter for you rust belt guys and gals!
Whew, I was hoping the Gibson SS didn't rust like that. Living in NJ they spread road salt like crazy people. My Jeep is probably going to be all SS. So far I am thinking an ATP header off Summit racing, then a custom SS pipe with a flexpipe before the cat (so hopefully the header doesn't crack), then a Magnaflow or Walker cat, and a Gibson SS to finish it.
