I was a little disappointed when I saw it in person next to the 20 ton. I thought they were both the same height just less capacity. I didn't know it was shorter. Oh well. So can you fit any bottle jack in there? I was thinking about getting one of the bottle jacks you can hook up to air.

There she blows!



Assembled it and pressed my front driveshaft u-joint in and out in about an hour. Works pretty good! Having it taller would've been a plus in some ways, but I'm kinda glad it wasn't 'cause holding onto a driveshaft while pressing out the u-joint with it being higher would've been a little tiresome.

Good buy, I went the 20 personally just because of the length of axle shafts.
If you need to change the bearings on one just engineer something to safely place the press up on so you have the extra distance required.

I still wish I could've gotten the 20, but I didn't have quite enough at the time. I had 100 bucks worth of gift cards and then a coupon that wittled the price of this one down to 99 bucks... so all I had to pay for was the tax. If I'd have gone with the 20, I would've had to shell out about 80 plus tax. I'm sure I can find something stable to elevate it if need be though.

Haven't heard anyone say an ill word about it yet though, so that's encouraging.

That a HF special or different brand? If you can weld I would imagine you could extend it and reinforce the leg supports for the extra height. Looks good I need one for my shop.

HF special... lots of those in my garage lol

I can weld, but my welder can't... it's the low of the low end and does terrible welds. Big time buyer's remorse on that one.... but when you're a newb that doesn't know **** about welding and doesn't do his research ahead of time, you make dumb mistakes.

BUT... I'll figured something out for it eventually. The side posts are just steel c-channel with holes drilled in them, so it would be easiest to just get a length of 3" c-channel, cut 'em to 6 footers and then drill the holes. BUT, it works fine for now so I'll worry about that later.

Definitely a tool I'd recommend regardless.

Well... I was on vacation last week and had every intention of getting a lot of projects finished on the XJ. We all know how THAT goes though.

I did manage to re-wood the trailer and clean the garage out.... along with pull up some shrubs in the front yard that had been bugging me for a long time. Not really anything done on the Jeep though.










I did score a bumper for 40 bucks, however. Buddy of mine had started it with the intention of making a front winch bumper. After looking at it though, and the fact that I'm planning on a tube bumper for the front, I think this will work nicely for a rear bumper. It's 1/4" plate steel, fully welded on the outer seams, stitch welded on the inner seams.

Shrubs pulling? Can we get a Welp... here ‘goes.... Shrub pulling thread? Lol. I’ve fallen a bit behind on mine too. Haven’t really touched it maintenance/upgrade wise in about 3-4 months.

Haha yeah I know what you mean. Luckily, I have a pretty decent stockpile of parts here and there to keep me busy while we're tightening up the purse strings to save and get our budget back in check.

Did a test-fit of my rear bumper....






Couldn't be more pleased.



It will stick out less that what you see here... just sitting over top of of factory bumper for visual right now.

I'm planning on making (or having them made *coughXJWonderscough*) custom mounts that go into the frame rails to also act as nut strips, then have a plate made that bolts to the factory location that will be welded to the frame rail brackets.

Also planning on cutting out a spot for a 2" hitch receiver, d-ring shackle mounts, and a swing-out tire carrier.

That's one beefy bumper! Would love to see the tire carrier build, that's the only thing missing from mine.
