Default Update

Been a while since I’ve updated I guess. Have been out wheeling lots. Haven’t broke anything major, but learned a lot of what I want to do next to this thing. Having loads of fun regardless. Added a hoop on the front bumper, and mounted my pods and lightbar again. Just had to do the waterpump, did the lower rad hose, and belt while I was in there. Did the tie rod end at the pitman arm, tcase output shaft seal, and have upper control arm bushings to do as well. Took a shot at tinting the back window, ****s hard in the corners and such hahaha. Turned out alright.
Also I finally got some new seats! Rugged Ridge buckets. Almost $400 retail each, got them $90 each on sale and fold forwards still.
Current plans for upgrades consist of the following. Since my lift is sagged a lot (sitting around 3.5” now)
-Rough Country control arm drop brackets
-Rubicon Express 4.5” coils
-Bilstein 5100s up front (probably the ones for 5-6” lift)
-Rough Country shackle relocation brackets (already have)
-Raise rear axle shock mounts

Plan to pitch my floors soon, and completely wore wheel/sand and primer, then or undercoat them. Have rear bumper plans of sorts as well! Would like to add a tire carrier to the one I build to get the tire off the roof.

heres some random photos from the past while! No particular order hahah. Definitely still rub 😂
Came out to swap a tie rod on my buddies XJ after a stump took his out. finished just at nightfall

Went on a bit of a trail run/exploring with Outsiders 4x4 (local wheeling group)
Roller on the way home after wheeling
Rugged Ridge seats installed. Need to weld braces on the factory seat bracket, and the aluminum mounts provided with the seats. Have some side to side wobble.
Found some mud. Had to hose out the whole engine bay after this one! Air filter was awfully muddy too, got a new one of course.
A few of my buddies XJs I wheel with
Making it to the top of the abandoned ski hill! Got to the chairlift at the top. Took a bit of a beating this day. Lots of narrow trees/brush. Took out a mirror and corner marker, and rear bumper cap. Lots of new scratches and found out my front driveshaft is on its way out. Slip part of it is loose. Loaded up with grease for now.
Found out I can stack on my buddies 33s 😂
Same trip up to the top of the abandoned ski hill. That’s my buddies SASd Tacoma. Absolutely wicked truck. Trailgear rock assault front housing, ARB feont locker, Detroit rear, 4.88s, 35s, etc.

Thank you! Yeah I live in Comox, but I’m in Campbell River 5 days a week for my next welding ticket!

Right on! looks like your having a lot of fun up there. Thanks for posting all those pics. Of you enjoying your rig. Anyway I finally got my 33" Ko2's. Now really looking forward to re-gearing. Mine defiantly rub in the rear, I need to address that for sure!!

I’d love to regear as well! Unsure if I’d go 4.10 or 4.56, as I’d like to step up to 35s when I do regear. With that will come axle building though haha. Have lots of time to decide.
Yeah you’ll definitely be rubbing in the rear! I still rub all around, rear is mostly or all on the plastic flares though. I want to go a bit taller (true 4.5-5” lift) to get some more up travel as well, find I get a bit tippy right now since I don’t have much up or down travel in the rear.

Default re-gear

Yeah I bought some axles to swap in that have 4.56 and ARB lockers. I need to get my act together and get-er installed. I just hope it won't be to steep for the highway driving on my new 33" tires. In any case it will be nice to be able to tow a trailer up the mountain passes.

4.56 and 33s might be a bit steep I'm thinking. You are 5 speed manual correct? But that's still sweet, 4.56 and ARBs will be nice. You'll definitely have an easier time towing a trailer though, that's for sure!

Well had another unfortunate break this past weekend. Went out by myself just for a quick rip in the bush. Was driving logging roads then into some old old logging roads that are a very moderate trail. On the way down somehow I snapped a leaf spring. They were bent before but I guess this did it in. Snapped one, one above is bent. Other leaf pack has 2 bent leafs. Luckily Pro-Comp is good on their lifetime warranty and I’m getting new ones it sounds like. Just ****ty, Jeeps been down another week. Got some awesome pictures while I was up there though!

Well got some Rough Country control arm drop brackets for Christmas. Was sure I was getting them, so ordered some Rubicon Express 4.5” coils and shock stud extenders for a bit more downtravel, until I’m ready to buy Bilstein 5100s for up front too. Will be running stock control arms, selling my RC lowers to a buddy.
Going to have to do balljoints at the same time as all this. Figure I’ll do em all. Have a heim joint on order for the trackbar too, current one is loud without gear oil on it and a bit sloppy.
Have RC shackle relocation brackets I got used a while back, going to cut to use with stock shackles to keep the front+back fairly level. Will have to mess with the pinion angle with shims, its out of wack already.
Fel-Pro valve cover gasket waiting to go on too, will sandblast and repaint the valve cover black, trying to keep the engine bay clean. Recently cleaned up all the wiring to the battery for lights, sub, etc.

Wiring all cleaned up. Main power wire from battery to a bus bar in the top left(Blue Sea marine). Lightbar, headlight harness, and sub wire going to it and shortened the lightbar harness finally, amongst other cleaning up wiring
Went for a Christmas Eve drift in the fresh snow. Tires are damn near shot now, terrible on ice.
Pile of parts I’ve been accumulating

Thanks man! I definitely will, mid January is the plan. Have to study and write my Red Seal test for the welding ticket I just finished then I’ll get at it! Checked my balljoints and they don’t seem to need to be replaced right now, no side to side play or anything so that’s nice, skipping those right now.Ordered a floor pan to fix my rust, pulled up my carpet yesterday above my muffler in the back passenger footwell and it is ugggggly. Going to pull everything out, fix all the rust, and probably chassis saver then undercoat it and new insulation.

Post photos of how bad your floors are curious as I'm doing mine too. I really didn't want to order pans because of cost but I think it is just smarter to do it right and replace them rather than patch them.Once mine are tacked in I plan to spray down rust preventor converter just as precaution and then rhinoline or rusteloum bedliner spray.

I'll take some photos of it soon! Didn't actually take any while I was in there. But my rear passenger is the only place I'm needing a floor pan. Hole is big enough to stick a foot through basically, and the rust goes up the trans tunnel so that'll need work too. It needs it lol. The other floor pans just need a bit of repair, mostly patchy surface rust. I know there are a few pinholes basically in the front floor pans, so I'm going buy a piece of sheet metal as well just to patch those.
I think I'm going to use a rust converter as well, POR15 likely, and then undercoat.
